Microscopical Society of Ireland at CRANN, TCD

The 35th Annual Symposium Microscopical Society of Ireland will take place in CRANN, TCD from 24th to 26th August 2011. Opportunities will be availble to view the INSPIRE-funded TEM and FIB at the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory (AML) as well as a range of other Microscopes including the Helium Ion Microscope.

The main aim of the symposium is to foster discussion and cooperation between those who use any form of microscopy in their work, whether this be in the academic or the industrial world. It is a unique opportunity for researchers at all levels to be exposed to new and innovative ideas which transcend traditional academic and industrial boundaries.

Keynote lectures will give overviews on exciting new developments and state-of-the-art research in the field and will be delivered by leading experts. Historically, the Symposium has provided an excellent forum for young researchers (particularly at postgraduate level) to present their data and findings at a conference. We will continue to foster this very strongly as this is one of the few meetings in Ireland where PhD students of very disparate backgrounds can engage in scientific debate. There will be fabulous prizes for the best poster and oral presentation at the symposium.

Register and submit an abstract via email: msi2011@tcd.ie or online: http://www.tcd.ie/Physics/People/HongZhou.Zhang/msi_website/reg.php

Selected full papers will be published in Progress in Natural Science
